I Would Describe Myself As | A submissive reflects the type of Dominant that owns them. Or Do They? This is very much an opinion piece. A Dominant teaches and trains the submissive to the Dominants tastes. The Dominant sets protocols and rules for the submissive to follow. No Dominant wants to be embarrassed by their submissive’s behavior. No submissive wants to be an embarrassment to their Dominant. The way the submissive speaks, acts, reacts and interacts should be satisfactory to the Dominant. So logically, the submissive then reflects what the Dominant has taught and trained. Again, logically, the Community can judge a Dominant by their submissive. In my opinion, this only holds true if the submissive has had no other Dominants or has fully embraced their current Dominants expectations. An experienced submissive, owned by a novice or less experienced Dominant, can actually reflect, at least partially, on the previous Dominant(s). Good or bad behavior can be attributed to the past Dominant’s abilities and not the current Dominant. An experienced submissive can make a poor Dominant look better than they really are, while using what was taught by a previous Dominant of more experience. Likewise, a submissive that may embarrass a Dominant, may be too new to the lifestyle to properly represent an experienced Dominant. A traumatized submissive may embarrass an experienced Dominant, because of the trauma caused by a previous abusive dominant. Each Dominant a submissive serves, leaves their mark in some way on that submissive. Whether it is by good example, bad example, or abusive behavior. While a submissive should live in the present and not the past, the past is what makes us who we are in the present. The first line in the title of this article fails to reflect a very old adage: DON’T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER A submissive may have had more than one author in writing her reflective story. The current Dominant of a submissive may have had very little to do with writing the submissive’s reflective story, or not enough time to correct everything the submissive reflects. So, I say, don’t judge a Dominant or a submissive, by their partner. Judge them on their own, not on positive or negative reflections, but on their own abilities, appearance, and outward standards. © Sir ESE' |
